Liposuction is the process of removing the fat under the skin that is not lost by diet and exercise with the help of special cannula pipes and tubes entering through a 2-3 millimeter incision. Since the incision is very small, recovery occurs in a very short time. Depending on the amount in the region, approximately 3-4 kilos of fat can be taken out through that small hole. After the removal of this fat, recovery takes place in a very short time. Every surgery can have known and unknown risks and complications. These can be as high as 20%-30%, or as low as 0%. The most feared event in liposuction surgeries is the removal of blood from the body along with fat. If there is low blood pressure, the person may need to be given blood again. Low blood pressure in patients is often ignored. If the blood pressure and blood count are low, the patient's life could be at risk. Therefore, it is important to closely follow-up the patient and check blood levels after surgery. Depending on the amount of fat to be extracted in liposuction surgeries, the duration of the operation can vary from 2-3 hours and sometimes be extended up to 4-5 hours. In liposuction surgery, theoretically and practically, it is ideal to take 5% of the patient's body weight. This amount can be increased up to 10% through postoperative intensive care and intensive follow-up. It should be noted that any amount extracted above this limit will increase risk. Before starting the operation, analgesic drugs like saline lidocaine and long-acting pain-killing drugs like Marcaine are given to the area where liposuction will be performed. These drugs help the patient not suffer any pain after surgery. Pain in postoperative patients is not a problem that we encounter much. As I said before, liposuction is the removal of fat under the skin by applying negative pressure. Medically-used ultrasound waves, radiofrequency, and laser light converted into heat in order to ensure a more harmonic melting of subcutaneous fat, and the melted fat is removed through a vacuum is considered the standard treatment. It is also possible to break down the fat more easily with pneumatic auxiliary devices called lipomatous. However, in liposuction operations, hands-on procedures and fat removal through an experienced surgeon is the best procedure.
